You can find interesting facts about Maldives and it's 12,0000 islands at National Geographic Website.200 of it's islands are inhabited and has rebounded from the tragedies of the 2006 tsunami, meanwhile It's dealing first hand with the consequences of climate change. Mohamed Nasheed the first democratically elected president of Maldives is making it his personal crusade to bring attention to Global Climate Change and has paired up with 350.org to bring this crisis to the for front of discussion. October 24, 2009 is the International Day of Climate Action and there will be demonstrations and events all over the world to raise awareness of the need for urgent action.
The island nation of Maldives is south of India in the Indian Ocean.
