My Favorite Place
This is where my love of the beach comes from. My first visit was in 1977 at the age of nine. My mom had just gotten married and I was lucky enough to get a big new American family with this in the family for five generations. As a little girl moving from a relatively small town in England to America, this made it all the easier! This is on lake Michigan.

Pieces of A Surfers Life (Surf Films)
I thought this Flickr Pic. was just awesome! Surfer Films~Love it! Even though it's missing Point Break my most favorite surfering movie isn't considered "out of category". For me it was more about surfing than "Bank robbers".
The best part.... Rod has a run down of all these "Surf Films" at his Flickr Photostream. Rod who currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts USA as a Software Developer had moved to Honolulu, Hawaii thanks to the inspiration given to him from the movie "The Endless Summer". I'm guessing he learned all about the surfers life!
This got me thinking about sitting at the local "pub" in the eighties watching surfing on the t.v.'s till wee in the morning. Great memories.. Thanks Rod :-)

Painting the Beaches
These beautiful beach scenes are the creation of Halima Washington. Halima is an artist who lives in Atlanta, Georgia and paints with a combination of a palette knife and a brush. She "loves using the impasto technique because she wants the viewer to be aware of the paint and her passion for it and wants people to see everyday ordinary objects and surroundings as extraordinary". Halima has a beautiful blog SMALL WORKS that is full of her magnificent pieces of work. If you're lucky enough to live in Atlanta Halima teaches at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center and has her work available at the Anne Irwin Fine Art Gallery. You can also find out more at Halima's website.
